Identifying New Oil Reserves in India and Petroleum Technology

Petroleum Technology is one of the most prime aspect of modern Exploration and Production business. When Petroleum studies meet with GIS Technologies it brings down the magic in Hydrocarbon Mapping.
I have learnt most of GIS Technologies and Remote Sensing skills from Netra Institute of Technologies, Dwarka Delhi. They have made me to skillup my knowledge in Mapping methodologies. You too should learn GIS from best Institutes.
I have developed a Map of modern areas of Hydrocarbon as follows.

Using the skills learned from Netra, I have developed this Map.
This Map shows the newest Hydrocarbon blocks allocated to specific refineries. The Legend shows the colored allocation to Refineries.
From this Map we can see that the areas of the coastal regions has most Hydrocarbon Blocks.
Steps used in this process are as follows (ArcGIS Software):
- Mapped and Digitized the blocks allocated from DGH.
- The Map are well Geo-referenced using GCS 1984 projection. We have also used 44N UTM Projection for calculation purposes.
- We have plotted the Refineries of India.
- Then using Analysis tool –> Overlay –> Proximity –> Near Table data, we have found the Nearest Refinery for each Hydrocarbon.
- Then Finally we have allocated the Refineries to each Hydrocarbon Blocks.
Following are the allocation of each Defined areas of Cauvery Basin, Krishna, Godavari Basin, North-Eastern India.

These are the Hydrocarbon Field allocation Maps to each Refineries.
From here we can find that the major Refinery is Indian Oil Corporation Koyali Refinery Refinery.
Thus we can use the GIS technology in Petroleum Industry to define the new dimension in Energy Sectors.
